What a weekend...well let's see! It's the middle of another week and it is flying by rather quickly! Not that I am complaining! Tonight is John's night of respite work so he will be gone all night and I will again sleep alone (boo hoo). But I did another training session for my RRSS job today and now I only have 2 more to go...WOHOOO! It's going pretty good and now I am starting to re-evaluate so much of my life plan...haha! Well you know...starting to question direction and dreams. This job is so rewarding and extremely positive. I feel so good and helpful when I am there and at the end of the day when I go home I actually feel like I made a difference in their lives. It's such a challenge and a reward! I am really enjoying this job so far!!
Tonight I am going shopping with Amber for some things I need to pick up for my apartment and also for some house things Amber has to get and check out for her and James' NEW HOUSE! They are so excited and I am also pretty excited for them and also to see it! It is so exciting for them and such a big step...
The weekend was pretty uneventful for me except I must give a HUGE shoutout to all those that helped John and I with the moving process...to my Dad and Ivy who drove down to good old Cape Breton and picked up our stuff, to Janet and Rick who assisted a tonne in our first initial phase of the move...haha (yes we did it in 2 steps), to my mom and Donald who assisted and contributed to our move in every way possible, to my Aunt Daphne and Uncle Rick who helped load up the truck, to Amber and James who also helped out in phase one of the move, and to Kyle, Andrew and Stefanie who came up to our apartment to help my Dad and Ivy move stuff in...to everyone...THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH! We couldn't have done it without you all!
We are finally just about done...some things will come with time and we are still awaiting my table and chairs from my Aunt's house! And of course a few little things here and there as well! But soon enough we will be settled!
John starts at Eastlink in a week and a half! He is looking forward to that....but really how ironic is it that his dad has worked for Aliant for over 26 years and now 2 of his 3 sons are working for Aliant's biggest rival company...Eastlink! Rather humourous!
Oh and of course the big news (and I am totally looking for some comments posted on this one people...so feel free to post a comment and let me and others know what you think): SUNDAY SHOPPING! Yes it came out today that the NS premier has decided to allow Sunday shopping. Now I know some of you are against for religous reasons and while I do believe in God, I am not overly religious (sorry Heather)...I AM totally against Sunday shopping! Come on people...you have 6 other days and evenings to do your shopping, you should totally be able to find some time in there to get your groceries, buy new clothes or whatever else it is you may need. And if worse comes to worse there are drug stores open for a short period on Sunday that you could get something absolutely necessary should you become so in diar need of it you could not possibly wait until the following monday morning on your way to work. Let's look at it from a workers perspective: if you are employed at one of these places (example: a store in the mall), Sunday is your one GARAUNTEED day off that you can rest at home, sleep in, wake up severely hungover, etc without the worry that your boss or co-worker may cal you in due to heavy sales, stock, a sick co-worker, etc. Sunday is the one day where you don't have to dodge every phone call checking you call display before answering due to fear of giving up you much needed day of rest. It's not like people who work in the mall get paid a fortune here people...minimum wage is about it..or not much above. I guess I look at Sunday shopping in this aspect because I did my time in retail and believe me when I say...everyone who works in a mall needs at least one official day off from cranky, snotty, customers and the bosses that come with it! I know the rest of the world has Sunday shopping and you may even argue that so many other jobs require people to work Sunday's...but most other jobs that require you to work on a Sunday gets paid more than minimum wage...EXAMPLE: waitresses, nurses, doctors, etc. I know that there ARE some that don't but still...
Anyways, these are just a few of my thoughts...feel free to post some rants and raves...
