The Best of 2006

I thought I would take this opportunity to say good bye to 2006 the right way. I have to admit 2006 was a fabulous year and I think it deserves some credit so this is my "ode to 2006":

~ John and I had a great year living and teaching in Seoul, South Korea. We met so many amazing people and really shared a great experience together. Thank you John...I couldn't imagine going through anything better with anyone better.

~ Janet and Nannie Meisner came to Korea to spend almost 2 full weeks with us. WOW! What a great time we all had. It was so nice to have them visit us and see our life in Seoul and expereince some of the culture we experienced every day! We even took a tour of the infamous DMZ line between North and South Korea and actually stepped foot in North Korea. And having John's nannie come all the way across the world has completely turned her into an experienced traveller now...shes got the bug!!

~ John and I climbed the Great Wall of China in Beijing during the month of May. Wow...what a great wall it is. Completely surreal and just such an awesome, once in a lifetime experience!

~ In May, a bunch of the foreign teachers went white water rafting. What a fun day that was with only minor injuries to Kristen!

~In May James and Amber also announced their engagement! YEAAA...they are now planning their wedding for September of 2007

~ The end of July marked the end of our year in Korea and we were sad to say good bye to our co-workers, friends and students (especially the kids). We had such a great year filled with memories that it was very hard to say good bye and fly home to reality.

~ John and I took almost 2 weeks to spend in Thailand. We travelled all around Bangkok and then to Phuket (the area that was once devastated by the Tsunami) and also to the Phi Phi Islands (the location the movie "The Beach" was filmed). We made friends with giant boa snakes, rode all around on mopeds and tuk-tuks, swam, got sun scorched, paid respects to a lot of beautiful buddhist temples, drank and ate the delicious Thai food and beer, checked out Muay Thai boxing and a drag queen cabaret, went to a shooting range, and took a lot of the touristy things in. By far the best trip ever!!!

~ While in Thailand John and I decided to try BUNGY JUMPING together. I must admit people the scariest moments of my life (yes even by far more scary than shark diving in Korea). We were tied at the ankles seperately but jumping holding onto each other. It was such a rush...and definitely the coolest thing I have ever done!!

~ The reuinion with family and friends was also very memorable this year! We had so many great times (and still are) since coming home! Lots of great parties, great friends and great food and drink!

~ The best part of 2006 was Aidan James Hicks being born into the world on August 30th! I am a proud Godmother! And of course Kassandra is an amazing mother (a complete natural)!! We are so lucky to be blessed by his birth! He is the most precious bundle of joy I have ever held in my arms and I just love him so much!!!

Well there you have it...2006 was a GREAT year! It treated us very well and I am just so excited to see what 2007 will bring us! I am also working on a slide show of pictures of "moments of 2006"! It should be good so stay tuned!!
I wish everyone all the best this year in health, wealth and most importantly, happiness! Love you all...xoxo
