2007: A look back on...

What a great year it has been and now it is time to say farewell to 2007 and welcome in 2008. While 2007 has been an extremely memorable and life altering year for me I know that 2008 will be just as great if not better. I decided to give 2007 a proper send off by flashing back to all the great moments we had...and also a few of the not so great moments!

It all started with ringing in the New Year on December 31st, 2006 at a wedding back in good old Cape Breton (ringing in the New Year Cape Breton style is always bound to be a good time). I danced my booty on the dance floor all night with my leading man! We toasted to the good times, the past and the future and drank a little too much champagne. At that very wedding...I caught the bouquet (coincidence??!! I THINK NOT;) On New Years Day john had a birthday and turned another year older...24 years and counting! January had some great times as well as some sad times...The Walker's lost their family dog, Missy. Although Missy was very old and lived a good life, it was still pretty sad. January also led to Janet breaking her ankle and having to hobble around for more than a month...okay...now that you mention it...January may not have been the greatest....

February brought on some more sadness as John's Nanny Walker passed away after a long battle with her health. Although she is in a better place it was still a very difficult time and sad for the family to endure. She was a great lady!

In February I also got my job at Enterprise! It was a nice break in which I had been searching for a decent full time job.

March brought on some happier times but nothing too eventful!!

In April my sister and I (with the help of some of our's and mom's friends) threw my Mom a surprise 50th birthday party at the yacht club in Westmount. It was a big success and she was VERY surprised. A lot of people came and everyone enjoyed themselves!

May brought on my best friend's engagement! Ryan asked Kassandra to marry him and of course she said YES! They decided then and there to have a destination wedding and plans for a trip to Jamaica got well underway! (They will marry in February 2008).

Then came June...hmmm...well I turned another year older (a quarter century...YIKES)...yes that is right folks....I am dating a younger man! Hehehe!!

In July we did some camping and day trips here and there! Camping included a Canada Day weekend trip via kayak to a remote island in Keji's Federal Park. That was a mission but definitely one of the best camping trips ever!!! Lots of partying and sunning and just plain old enjoying ourselves! A weekend trip to PEI made for a great time and we took in an Areosmith concert which was sooooo much fun! Had a great weekend with Dad, Ivy, Darcy & Sarah! In July I also accepted a position with the Teachers Plus Credit Union. I started here in mid-July and have been enjoying it ever since. Learning a lot and working with fantastic people!!! what more can ya ask for?!?!

August was another amazing summer month! We did some more camping! More day trips and even some sailing! August also brought on some more good news: John got a new job. He started working for Aliant as an install and repair technician and he absolutely loves it. We were so excited for him to start a career with a promising company!

Then came September, hmmm...anything exciting or fabulous happen in September? Let me think...well we had our 3 year anniversary on September 9th...and...hmmm....anything else?!?! OF COURSE! The happiest moment thus far in my life!!! JOHN ASKED ME TO MARRY HIM! On September 29th, 2007 John got down on one knee in the very spot we shared our first kiss years earlier and then and there he proposed! It was so special and definitely a moment I will NEVER forget! It was truly the greatest surprise EVER! After sharing the great news with all our family and friends, we started wedding planning. We will be getting married in September 2008.

October was a great month filled with wedding plans and excitement! I also had a lot of work functions that month but fun work things so that was nice!

November was buzy with shopping and parties! We met with the minister (Father Tom) who will be marrying John & I and we also trimmed a few trees. I held a little stagette for Kassandra while she was home and we went in search of the perfect wedding dress for her and what do you know...we found one! She looked gorgeous in it!
December came as quick as ever and even busier than I remember! In the midst of lots of Christmas shopping, preparations and parties; my father and Ivy held a little engagement dinner party at their place for John and I. It was so nice of them! Everyone had a great time! That same day my mother, Janet, Stef and I went wedding dress shopping. The first dress I tried on I fell absolutely in love with. Although I am going to go again in January I am pretty sure that is my dress!! YAY YAY YAY!
So before we knew it, Christmas was here. We spent Christmas in Cape Breton this year and travelled back on boxing day to spend in new ross. It was great to be home! New Year's Eve will soon be here! Time to toast in a fabulous New Year and enjoy the festivites!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone the very best this holiday season and a very Happy New Year!!
