I lost a piece of my heart....

On September 7th, 2011 the world lost a truly magnificent woman - my Nannie!!! Ivy (Lawson) Lewis was 86 years when she left this world to join the love of her life, Bert, in Heaven!! My Nannie was a very special lady who I loved more than I can put into words. I honestly do not have too many memories of my childhood that did not involve her! She was a big part of our lives and meant the world to me!!! I went home to Cape Breton during her final days to be with her and be together with my family. Although her death was not necessarily sudden, I have never felt such deep sadness! All week I thought of our memories, I also worried "What if I forget"...I thought I should bottle up all the memories so I would not forget a thing - but there are far too many memories to capture and deep down I know they will always remain in my heart!!! Everyone who knew my Nannie knew she was a woman who had a very quick wit, was comical, loved her family more than anything and missed her great true love - my grandfather - whom passed away more than 30 years ago. Although I never met my grandfather, she talked about him daily so anyone that knew her felt they knew him as well. Growing up I remember hoping to have a love like she did and I loved hearing her stories and seeing the sparkle in her eyes as she spoke of him!!!
Nannie was a remarkable woman who loved to bake, cook, shop and was very active in the church. She was the best grandmother a girl could hope for and I will miss her dearly. I feel heart broken....as though a piece of my heart is now missing! I cannot stop thinking about her and the times we shared! I will make sure to tell Forrest plenty of stories about her so that her memory will love on.
Her obituary can be found here.
I love you Nannie - a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!!! xoxo
